Recently, a sero-prevalence survey was conducted in Anantapur, Nellore, East Godavari and Krishna districts. As many as 3,750 blood samples were collected from each of the districts between August 7-12 for the survey.
The results are out and some facts are interesting. The survey, which an expert has described as "satisfactory", has discovered that about 35-40% of the surveyed population living in urban areas in the aforementioned districts have developed antibodies. A stunning proportion of the population was asymptomatic as COVID-19 survivors.
About 99% of the infected population was asymptomatic in Anantapur and Krishna. The proportion is slightly less in the other two districts.
Percentage of surveyed people who have already contracted the coronavirus:
Krishna: 21.7%
Anantapur: 17.4%
East Godavari: 14.4%
Nellore: 8.3%
Expectedly, urban areas have seen a vastly higher proportion of infection than rural areas.
