Senior director Mani Ratnam hospitalised after Covid-19

Acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam has been hospitalized after he tested positive for Covid-19. He last attended the grand teaser launch function of his upcoming film 'Ponniyin Selvan' in Chennai. The event was attended by actors Karthi, Trisha, Vikram Prabhu and many others.

The 'Bombay' and 'Roja' maker has been admitted to Chennai's Apollo hospital for treatment. Doctors are yet to share the medical bulletin regarding his health at the time of writing.

Mani Ratnam is at the cusp of making a massive comeback this year. The first part of 'Ponniyin Selvan' is scheduled for a grand release on September 30 in multiple languages. The film features Jayam Ravi, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Jayaram in main roles. The film's music is scored by AR Rahman. The epic historical drama is slated to release in theatres in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
