Ever since English bowler Ollie Robinson was suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over racist tweets he had posted more than 8 years ago, racism among English cricketers has become a topic of discussion across countries.

Soon after Ollie Robinson's suspension, old tweets of cricketers Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler emerged as well, where the players were supposedly mocking Indians. Meanwhile, the fact that Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), respectively, in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has not gone down well with Indian cricket viewers as well as a senior BCCI official, who suggested that a public apology from the cricketers would ease things up a bit.

"KKR and RR will be in a fix as these are players earning from Indian Premier League and as late as 2017 were making fun of how Indians speak English. Now you can be dismissive of these posts but this also speaks about what their general perception about Indians is. It’s a tricky terrain but both KKR and Royals have a way out," the BCCI official was quoted as saying by a news agency.

The senior official, under the condition of anonymity, added, "Firstly, if Shah Rukh Khan and Manoj Badale are mindful of their respective franchises' (KKR and RR) image, a statement of apology from both Morgan and Buttler would suffice. Now with ECB not allowing them for the second phase of IPL due to their own commitments, the suspension would count for very little. You are suspending players who are not coming for the second phase. It will be mere posturing."
