Vinod Khanna loses his battle with cancer

Veteran Bollywood actor, Producer and BJP MP Vinod Khanna has passed away this morning at a hospital in Mumbai failing in a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 70 when he breathed his last. The actor-politician was admitted to the hospital on April 2, 2017 due to severe dehydration.
Vinod Khanna started his acting career in 1968 with the film 'Man Ka Meet'. He has acted in over 141 films. He started his career as a supporting and villain actor and won the Filmfare award for the Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film 'Haath Ki Safai'. Later he establish a career as a hero with many hit films like 'Gaddar', 'Yogita Bali', 'The Burning Train' and 'Kurbani'.
He took a break from acting at the peak of his career in 1982 as he became a follower of spiritual leader Osho. Then he made a comeback in 1987 and gave super hits like 'Insaaf' and 'Satyamev Jayate'. In the last years of his career he acted in supporting roles in 'Dabbang', 'Dabbang 2' and the Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Dilwale' was his last film.
Khanna also had a successful career as a politician. He joined BJP in the year 1997 and contested in Lok Sabha Polls of 1998. In the Government lead by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he was made the Union Culture and Tourism Minister in the year 2002. At the time of his death, he was the sitting MP of the Gurdaspur constituency of Punjab where he won the 2014 elections under a BJP ticket.
Vinod Khanna was first married to Geethanjali in 1971 with whom he has two sons Rahul Khanna and Akshaye Khanna. Both of them have acted in many Bollywood films. In 1990, he married Kavitha with whom he has a son Sakshi and a daughter Shraddha.
