Aayirathil Oruvan is a 2010 adventure film written and directed by Selvaraghava. The film features Karthi, Andrea, Rema sen and Parthiban in lead roles. Though the film did not do well at the box office, the film was celebrated by Kollywood fans after few years.

A few months ago Director Selvaraghavan released the first look poster of the 'Aayirathil Oruvan 2' and stated that the film will be released in 2024. On Thursday he took to his Twitter and made a shocking revelation on the budget of his cult classic film 'Aayirathil Oruvan'

He wrote, "The actual budget of #aayirathiloruvan was 18 crores. But we decided to announce it as a 32 crore film to hype it as a mega-budget film. What stupidity! Even though the film managed to collect the actual budget it was regarded as average! Learnt not to lie whatever the odds are!"

Reacting to his post many of his fans are sending him positivity and are praising the film as a masterpiece. Currently, Selva wrapped the shooting of his upcoming film 'Saani Kaayidham' alongside Keerthy Suresh. This film also marks his acting debut in Film Industry. He recently joined the cast of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Beast'. He is expected to play one of the three antagonists in the film.
