Way back in 2016 Kollywood got the pleasant surprise when 'Mannavan Vanthanadi' was announced bringing together the unexpected combo of Santhanam and Selvaraghavan as hero and director respectively. The love story had Aaditi Pohankar as the leading lady with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and a major portion was shot in Armenia as well.
'Mannavan Vanthanadi' produced by Selvaraghavan, Sushanth Prasad, Geethanjali Selvaraghavan and Siddharth Rao hit a financial crisis with eighty percent shooting completed. Selvaraghavan moved on to film his mega project 'NGK' starring Suriya, Rakul Preet and Sai Pallavi and has completed the shooting as well.
Meanwhile the producers of 'Mannavan Vanthanadi' reportedly tried to sell the entire rights of the film to a production house but Varun Manian's Radiance Media is holding the entire digital and negative rights and had filed a case. The court has also ruled in favor of Radiance putting an interim ban on the sale of the film. The situation now is bleak as Selva and his partners have to settle their loans to Varun Manian and only then they can bring in another company and complete the much-awaited film. Industry pundits are of opinion that the project is in deeper trouble and could take a long time to see the light of the day.
