Self-styled godman Nithyananda has banned the entry of travellers from India to his island country 'Kailasa,' apparently due to the resurgence of Covid-19 in India. He has also prohibited travellers from Brazil, the European Union and Malaysia from entering the island.
A statement from the official account of Nithyananda on Twitter read, Due to the second and third wave of coronavirus, all de facto spiritual embassies of Kailasa in countries listed below (Brazil, European Union, Malaysia, India) are sealed and no public will be allowed until further notice. All Kailasians, Ekailasians, volunteers associated with these de facto embassies of Kailasa are to quarantine themselves and adhere to the precautionary measures advised by the local laws.
Nithyananda, who escaped India in 2019 after being accused of sexual assault, is hiding in the island nation and has also appealed to the United Nations to declare Kailasa as a separate country. The island's website states that Kailasa is a nation without borders created by dispossessed Hindus from around the world who lost the right to practice Hinduism authentically in their own countries.
