If Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu becomes a big hit, it will lead to something greater than reviving the multi-starrer trend. It will prove the doubtless point that story should come first, not the actors. Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh will have become an example, prodding others to emulate them. When they gave the nod to Srikanth Addala, they did not mind whether they were going to share screen space with a superstar or not. If for Venky it might have not mattered whether it was Pawan or Mahesh, for the other one, too, it made no difference who was playing his brother.
If Srikanth will not convince the audience that an extraordinary casting was necessary or justifiable, SVSC may suffer a bit. But, speaking optimistically, 'Dil' Raju is never the one to make a big-ticket, high-budgeted affair for the sake of proving a point or with the desire of seeming big. Thus, SVSC must be, in all probability, a natural multi-starrer, much like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
Srikanth, we are told, is a director of clarity. Rao Ramesh, who plays Samantha's rich father in the movie, has given this compliment. Besides, his producer is understandably thrilled and wowed; despite the not-so-successful Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Raju reposed faith in him. Remember Raju had that sense in him to see that Dasarath had remarkable knack for making good cinema and rest is history.
Most of them rightly or wrongly believe that the story is about happy living, heart-breaking break-up of brothers, and a not-so-belated reunion in the end. SVSC should come with a novel narration to be able to live up to the grand expectations on it.
Prakash Raj, Jaya Sudha, Anjali, Samantha, Brahmanandam and others complete the tantalising star cast.
Raju finds Mickey J Meyer's music haunting. KV Guhan's cinematography and other technical departments may well be nimble. May Tollywood open a new leaf on December 21.
