The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) has dished out new rules pertaining to the censor certificates. According to the new regulations, the censor for a film may be obtaine donly after 68 days through the online procedure.

The CBFC also justified the time lengthy procedure by gving out a secen point reasons as following:

1.Scrutiny of Applications- 7days
2.Formationof Examining Committee- 15 days
3.Forwarding the EC report to the Chairman- 10 days
4.Communication of the order tot he applicant -3 days
5.Surrender of cuts by the producer- 14 days
6. Examination of cuts- 14 days
7.Issue of certificate – 5 days

Responding to this, famed Tamil director Seenu Ramasamy has raised concern about the lenght of the censor procedure. Stating that the procedure is akin to a case progression in courts, he also pointed out that most of the films are bankrolled by loans. He also said that the lengthy timeline will only add to the woes of artisits as it will mean an increase in the interest rates of the availed loan.

In light of this, producers are calling for the relaxation of the time taken to award censors to film as this will not only hasten the process but also not create a dent in their budgets as well.
