Director and political activist Seeman has raised his voice in support of actor Vadivelu and his upcoming film Thenaliraman.
Thenaliraman directed by Yuvaraja Dhayalan has started facing threats from Telugu associations operating in Chennai. They have asked for a ban on the film since they fear that the film portrays king Krishnadevaraya in poor light. A clarification from AGS Entertainments, the producers of the film stating that Thenaliraman is a film based on Thenaliraman tales and all the characters in the film are purely fictional, has been disregarded by the groups protesting against the film. The protesters have allegedly threatened to besiege Vadivelus home and also assault him if the film is the scenes depicting Krishnadeavaraya are not removed. This has irked Seeman who has sent a strongly worded pres statement cautioning those who protest against the film without watching it.
Seeman has alleged that the intention of the protest seems to be thwarting a Tamil actor Vadivelu who is considered as a hero by millions of Tamils from carrying out is professions. Seeman has warned the protestors that if they try to stop the release of the film without even watching the film, they will have to face serious consequences.
Seeman did not fail to show his empathy towards the sentiments of the Telugu people. He has said if the film really contains something that insults Krishnadevaraya, the ruler of Vijayanagar kingdom and also one of the most respected King of Telugu speaking community, those have to be removed but even that has to be done by way of peaceful talks and not by resorting to violence.
