Director S.P.Jananthan commands respect among audience for his films with powerful content. His latest film Purambokku Engira Podhuvudamai' was highly acclaimed for its hard hitting take on capital punishment and the excessive control of the state over the subjects.

Jananathan who has been making films on contemporary subjects has decided to go for a historical subject for his next film. The director has reportedly said that the earth shattering success of S.S.Rajamouli directed Baahubali' has proved that there is a strong market for historical films in Tamil Nadu and that encourages him to make history based films.

The Iyarkai' director has said that his next film will reflect the world civilization through the life of Tamils. It will be a romance story set in the 9th century AD and it will explore the richness of warfare, architecture, sculpture, international trade, painting, literature and science in the ancient period of Tamils.
