Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is currently in the United Arab Emirates, playing for Chennai Super Kings in the 13th edition of IPL while his wife Sakshi and 5-year-old daughter Ziva are staying at their farmhouse in Ranchi. The security has reportedly been tightened around the farmhouse after the cricketer's family, especially his daughter, got threats of rape and physical violence on social media.

Hate comments started pouring in for Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav on social media after their team lost to Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium last Wednesday. While the cyber cell unit is working to zero in on the users who posted those malicious comments on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, Rural SP Naushad Alam reportedly informed a news agency, "Frequency of patrolling near Dhoni's farmhouse has been increased. We are keeping a close watch on the movement of suspicious elements near the house. In addition to that a squad has also been kept reserve at a certain distance from his farmhouse to deal with any exigency. A number of static force, which already was deployed in and around his farmhouse, has also been increased." People across the country have condemned the shameful remarks directed at Dhoni's family as well as the families of other cricketers every time they performed poorly on the field. Criticizing the recent incident and demanding strict action against the trolls, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Vice President Ajay Nath Shahdeo said, "Cricket should only be seen as a medium of entertainment, but people are going beyond it, keeping others modesty on stake. This is really unfortunate."

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy from Mundra in Gujarat was arrested on Sunday for posting abusive remarks on Sakshi's Instagram page. "The class 12 student from Namna Kapaya village was detained for questioning in connection with a disgusting threat message that was posted on the Instagram account of Dhoni's wife Sakshi Dhoni a few days back. We detained him for questioning after Ranchi police informed us that the accused hails from Mundra in Kutch district. We have confirmed that the boy is the same who had posted the message. He will be handed over to Ranchi police as the FIR was lodged in that city," a senior official reportedly stated.
