On Friday, violence broke out on the premises of the Secunderabad railway station against the Narendra Modi government’s Agnipath scheme. There have been allegations on social media that the protests were not spontaneous but pre-planned.
A Times Of India report today wrote about the existence of a pre-planned strategy to create a law and order issue in Secunderabad. “Some key organizers created Whatsapp groups like Justice for Army CEE, Hakimpet Army Soldier,” the national daily today reported, quoting sources in the police department.
It is worrying that about 200 people reached the Secunderabad station with material needed to do arson and mob violence. As many as six were injured and one person died in police firing.
The police department will now have to do catch-up with organizers of mob violence if a repeat of yesterday’s violence is to be avoided.
There are suspicions that the widespread protests in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have also been a handiwork of conspirators. The Yogi Adityanath government in UP is looking into the conspiracy that may have resulted in riots in Kanpur.
The role of cash-rich training institutes may also have to be probed in provoking riots through misleading videos.
