SC's no to Opposition request on VVPATs

Last month, 21 political parties filed a review petition with the Supreme Court with the request that the Election Commission should be asked to subject 50% of the Electronic Voting Machines to "random verification using the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT)".
The news is that the apex court has on Tuesday rejected the review plea filed by the Opposition parties.
Sudeep Jain, Deputy Election Commissioner, has welcomed the court's decision.
Meanwhile, Opposition parties are expected to further pursue the issue politically.
