BJP’s Tamil Nadu president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has said that the Supreme Court’s recent orders were just the kind of ‘befitting reply’ needed to silence a few political parties in the State which were spreading false information on Cauvery row.
Protests have erupted all over the State demanding that the Centre should soon set up a Cauvery Management Board (CMB) to supervise water-sharing arrangements between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, as per Supreme Court’s directions contained in its verdict dated 16th February. The apex Court, however, denied it said anything about setting up CMB as it only meant the creation of a supervisory arrangement by the word ‘scheme’ in its verdict.
Taking up the case yesterday, the apex Court directed the BJP-led Centre to file a detailed ‘Cauvery water sharing plan’ with it by 03rd May before rapping the Centre for approaching it to explain the word ‘scheme’ after the expiry of the last date for framing a plan for water-sharing. Tamilisai commented about it stating that the Centre was moving in the ‘right direction’ towards resolving the Cauvery water row permanently.
“Supreme Court’s observations should silence all those political parties in Tamil Nadu which had been cheating people by saying that the Centre was deliberately delaying things on the issue,” Tamilisai said and added that these parties were blaming the Centre mainly to be in the news and for their own survival.
