Saurabh Varma: Solid Patels is as good as 'PK' in terms of entertainment value

  • IndiaGlitz, [Thursday,January 08 2015]

As the first edit of Solid Patels, gets ready; the debate on the viability of family entertainers becomes relevant.

"There are no big or small films" says Saurabh Varma, the director of Solid Patels. "There are only good films and bad films" he adds. The recently released PK, which is a complete family entertainer and the biggest box office draw, yet again proves that this is the most preferred genre amongst films for the audience and there is a huge dearth of such films, especially comedies. Solid Patels might end up being the only film after PK which might be a complete family movie, going by the films slated for release in the 1st quarter of 2015.

Solid Patels is as good as PK in terms of entertainment value, besides it is catering to the same audience target group: which are families, kids and the new generation.

Says Kamal Gianchandani, CEO, President PVR Pictures, "Wholesome family entertainment films have a vibrant track record at the box office. We have observed that when a film has something for every member of a family, it very often leads to better footfalls at cinemas. Solid Patels looks promising and seems to be in the same category."

Solid Patels produced by Krian Media and starring Shazahn Padamsee, Shiv Pandit, Ali Asgar, Manoj Joshi, Kitu Gidwani, Vaishali Desai and Kettan Singh is slated for release on April
