Microsoft has made its CEO Satya Nadella the chair of its board. This makes him all the more powerful in the organization. It may be noted that this is the first time in more than 20 years that Microsoft’s chairman is also its CEO.
International media has highlighted the fact that Nadella has been made the chairman unanimously more than six years after he succeeded Steve Ballmer in February 2014 as the CEO.
Reports say that Nadella has made the company more relevant in a new tech world led by Apple and Google. It added that Nadella has done a lot of right things, including the prioritization of cloud computing. Business Standard commented that Microsoft has undergone a rebirth during Nadella's leadership, recovering from failures in the mobile phone and internet search market.
Commenting on the development, Daniel Newman wrote, "A massive vote of confidence in a CEO that has arguably been the best in the business over the past 5+ years."
Nadella is also scheduled to present the latest Windows on June 24.
