Satya Nadella goes against CAA, calls it bad

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has described the Citizenship Amendment Act as a sad one. He doesn't seem to endorse the law. However, in a written statement, Nadella has sounded somewhat ambiguous. While saying that every nation should define its borders, he hoped that immigrants to India will become great achievers.

"Every country will and should define its borders, protect national security and set immigration policy accordingly. And in democracies, that is something the people and their governments will debate and define within those bounds. I’m shaped by my Indian heritage, growing up in a multicultural India and my immigrant experience in the US. My hope is for an India where an immigrant can aspire to found a prosperous start-up or lead a multinational corporation benefiting Indian society and the economy at large,” the written statement says.

Earlier, he said, "I would love to see a Bangladeshi immigrant who comes to India and creates the next unicorn in India or becomes the next CEO of Infosys".

As per those who are not in agreement with Nadella's anti-CAA stance, the Microsoft CEO hasn't understood the law. D Roopa, IPS, tweets out, "There is no change in rules and procedure for anyone, even Bangladeshis, to apply legally for immigration into India. After the first stage of legal immigration and staying for 12 years in India, a Bangladeshi can apply for citizenship through naturalisation. Surprised that Satya Nadella didn't get it."
