Sathyaraj is known for playing the hero taking a dig at others in a lighter vein, and this has helped him stay a float in the race among other heroes in the recent past.

Now the actor seems to have taken a break from playing his routine stuff.

He plays the hero in an offbeat movie to be directed by Jaya Bharathy, who had shot to fame directing non-commercial movies like Kudisai, Nanba Nanba which had won several awards.

The movie featuring Sathyaraj in the lead role has been titled Gurushetram.

Jaya Bharathy says, 'The movie dwells about the hatred and animosity that prevails between one another in the country. It will throw light on the need for unity among the countrymen. Sathyaraj plays a old man who fights for the cause of unity'.

Roja and Thalaivasal Vijay are also in the cast.
