The operations of a Tamil News channel has been reportedly suspended after 26 staff members tested positive for the coronavirus among the 95 people who were scanned.  The patients have been admitted to the Chennai government hospital isolation wards.  The family members of the affected persons have been alerted to self-quarantine.  Reports suggest that it is the Sathiyam TV that has its channel office in Royapuram which is one of the hotspots of the disease in Chennai.

Chennai is currently leading in the number of COVID 19 patients in Tamil Nadu with 303 out of the total 1572 infections so far and while many tests are awaited the numbers including the 26 media persons could see a sharp increase by the evening when the official government updates come.

The government has cautioned media persons to exercise the utmost caution by practicing social distancing to prevent themselves from contracting the disease while doing fieldwork.
