Akshay Kumar's 'Pad Man' directed by Balki is based on Muruganantham feom Tamil Nadu who strives to make available low cost sanitary pads for women. With the film hitting screens today, 'Pad Man' has already created awareness among the masses with its socially relevant promotions.
Akshay Kumar had earlier called on the government to provide free sanitary napkins for women and also hosted a challenge in social media asking celebs to pose a pic with a sanitary pad to negate the taboo around it.
Now taking it to the next level, the widely reputed Chennai based Sathyam Cinemas have announced to dispense free sanitary napkins in its theatres. Pertaining to this, vending machines have been arranged in women's restrooms to dispense sanitary napkins. In a few weeks time, the company plans to implement this across all its properties.
Kudos to Sathyam Cinemas for making a major, socially inclined move for the women community. Hope other theatres are taking note of this welcome move !
