Director Bala's long awaited flick 'Tharai Thappattai' starring Sasikumar and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar in lead roles is on its post-production stage. Bala has written, directed and produced this film under his B Studios banner

The film that went on floors in early 2014 was delayed reportedly due to a severe injury sustained faced by its lead actor Sasikumar while shooting. In a recent interview Varalakshmi also revealed that her shoulder was dislocated while shooting for the film and she had to undergo training for three months as she plays a Karagattam dancer in this film adding up reasons for the long delay in completing the shoot.

Now after a long wait we get information regarding the release date of the film. Prominent film production and distribution firm Ayngaran International has revealed in its official Twitter handle that plans are on to release 'Tharai Thappattai' for Pongal 2016.

'Tharai Thappattai' is touted as a film about traditional arts of Tamil Nadu. Sasikumar reportedly plays a Nadaswaram artist in the film. Ilaiyaraja scores the music and this is the veteran's 1000th film as a composer.

Releasing such a film for the traditional Tamil festival Pongal would be a wise decision. We will have to wait for an official confirmation on the release plans.
