This Pongal`s most expected film Thaarai Thappattai` directed by Bala is said to be an intense film with Sasikumar, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and R.K.Suresh who plays the villain turning in riveting performances. Here are some little known facts about the film.

Bala had initially shot Tara Thappattai` for fifteen days with Sasikumar in his normal look, but after seeing the rushes was not satisfied and asked Sasi to grow his hair and his beard to get the present look and that took almost three months time.

In a scene where Varalakshmi Sarathkumar was supposed to break glass she was really hurt all over her body with heavy bleeding and that too right in front of her close friend Vishal who was visiting the sets.

Many shots that were canned for almost a month in Pondy Bazaar, Chennai were simply not used in the film as Bala felt that they were not up to the mark. Varalakshmi besides acting as the lead heroine has also worked as Bala`s assistant director in the film.
