The pathbreaking Subramaniapuram` rocked the Tamil film industry in the year 2008 becoming a huge critical and commercial hit. The film directed by Sasikumar gave Samuthirakani his first big break as a ruthless antagonist. After that Sasikumar has directed Samuthirakani in Easan` and the vice versa happened in Nadodigal` but they did not share screen space.

In the new film Vetrivel` directed by Vasantha Mani , Sasikumar and Samuthirakani are acting together after eight years. Mia George is the heroine with Thambi Ramaiah and Renuka in the cast. Prabhu is playing a powerful role in the film teaming up with Sasikumar for the first time.
