Sasikumar is one of the many big stars sharing the screen space with Superstar Rajinikanth in 'Petta' directed by Karthik Subbaraj. It has been revealed that Sasikumar plays the character of Malik in the film and appears in the flashback as Rajini's character's closest friend. The acclaimed actor-director was approached in the last minute for the important character, but according to Karthik Subbaraj agreed immediately for the chance to act with Thalaivar.

'Petta' produced by Sun Pictures with Anirudh scoring the music has the ensemble cast of Rajinikanth, Simran, Trisha, Nawazuddin Siddique, Bobby Simha, Megha Akash, Malavika Mohanan, Guru Somasundaram, Muniskanth with Sasikumar and Vijay Sethupathi. The mega film is slated for release on Pongal 2019.
