K.P. Munusamy, a former State Minister and a prominent leader of the unified AIADMK, has accused Sasikala, former aide of the former/deceased chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa, and her extended family members of having grossly misused Puratchithalaivi’s position (as chief-minister) in amassing properties at will.
Taxmen have been raiding the premises/establishments/buildings owned by Sasikala and her relatives/friends across the State and elsewhere including New Delhi for the past four years, in one of the biggest such exercise witnessed in recent times. Many ‘incriminating’ documents have reportedly been recovered during the raids; taxmen have also frozen more than 100 bank accounts of Vivek, CEO of Jaya TV.
Sasikala’s nephew Dinakaran, who had earlier put up a brave face on the first day of the raid, hasn’t spoken to the press yesterday on the fourth consecutive day of the continuing raids. In the meantime, K.P. Munusamy told newsmen in Krishnagiri that the raids were triggered neither at the behest of the Centre nor the State Government.
“It is apparent that Sasikala and her extended family members had blatantly misused ‘Puratchithalaivi’ Amma’s position as chief-minister for many years in cheating her and amassing wealth to the tune of several thousand crores; this is highly condemnable,” he said and added that Dinakaran being so corrupt didn’t have any right whatsoever to even utter ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi’s name.
