Pa Ranjith opens up about ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ sequel and prequel

Pa. Ranjith’s latest film ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ is an all-around winner gaining critical praise as well as record viewership in Amazon Prime Video where it is continuing to stream successfully.   Stalwart Kamal Haasan invited the entire cast and crew of the film and appreciated their effort.

Fans are hungry for more about the memorable characters of ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ such as Kabilan (Arya) Mariamma (Dushara Vijayan), Rangan Vaathiyar (Pasupathy), Vembuli (John Kokken), Raman (Santhosh Prathap), Vettri (Kalaiarasan), Daddy (John Vijay) and most notably Dancing Rose (Shabeer Kallarakkal.

Ranjith has opened up that he is indeed planning a sequel for which he has already shot most of the footage and could not cramp into the released version of ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’.   He has also revealed that a prequel set in the year 1925 is also in the works which will trace the origin of the boxers and their rivalry from the British era.

The ace filmmaker has also let out that he is keeping his options open and the sequel and the prequel could either be made as films or web series depending on the situation in the future.

Ranjith’s immediate project is a romance titled ‘Natchathiram Nagargirathu’ reportedly starring Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan.
