Thalapathy Vijay's 'Sarkar' took a massive opening at the box office and has crossed the 150 crores mark collection in it's first weekend itself. The team held a success meet and a huge cake was cut which had the controversial mixer and grinder in the icing.
It is a known fact that the ruling ADMK government was irked by a scene in which the freebies given to voters during 2011 elections by Jayalalitha are thrown into fires. The party cadres conducted agitations in theatres screening 'Sarkar' and destroyed banners and properties forcing the removal of the scene and muting other criticism on the government.
The 'Sarkar' "freebies" cake cutting is a clear message that the team is not backing down in their take on this brand of politics. The event was attended by Vijay, A.R. Rahman, A.R. Murugadoss, Keerthy Suresh, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and lyricist Vivek among others.
