'Sarkar' has grossed Rs. 150 Cr worldwide in 4 days in Tamil and Telugu languages put together. (Note: The Telugu version is on its way to becoming a hit).
Analysts say that it will storm into the Rs. 200 Cr club in its lifetime run, with the Telugu version's contribution being negligible. In Tamil superstar Vijay's career, it's the third Rs. 150 Cr movie, the other two being 'Theri' and 'Mersal'.
On Friday, in Chennai city, the AR Murugadoss directorial grossed Rs. 1.36 Cr. So far, in 4 days, it has grossed Rs. 7.33 Cr. By Sunday, it's expected to earn more than Rs. 10 Cr from this city.
In the US, its gross is USD 650K, which is more than the gross of 'Kaththi'.
Meanwhile, after deleting some "controversial" portions from the movie, production house Sun Pictures has stated that it had to do so because distributors and exhibitors were scared of the protests against the movie. The ruling AIADMK has said that it won't oppose the film any longer now that deletions have been made.
