Thalapathy Vijay fans had a feast on Diwali yesterday giving their idol his career's biggest opening in Tamil Nadu. However some fans have also brought disrepute to the mass hero.

One Manikandan aged 28 working as a call taxi driver in Chennai had gone to his s native place Kaveripakkam in Vellore district. It is said that Manikandan tore up 'Sarkar' banners that were erected there which angered Vijay fans who gave him a thrashing.
Manikandan's relatives apparently rescued him and locked him up in a house but the uncontrollable fans gathered there also and after sometime left. Later when the door was unlocked Manikandan was found dead hanging on the ceiling. Cops are investigating whether he committed suicide due to the shaming he suffered at the hands of Vijay fans or some of them entered the house by the backdoor murdered him and escaped.
