Saripodhaa Sanivaaram Review

Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is Nani's latest film that he has been promoting for the last few weeks. Directed by Vivek Athreya, this film has Priyanka Arul Mohan and SJ Suryah as the other leads. Story

Surya(Nani) is a very stubborn and aggressive child. Seeing his attitude, his mother takes a promise that he should show his anger only on Saturdays. On the other side of the town is Daya(SJ Suryah) a wicked cop who tortures people whenever he is angry. Surya crosses paths with Daya through his girlfriend Charulatha (Priyanka Arul Mohan). Things get worse when an ugly battle starts between Daya and Surya. How a man with powers on Saturday take on a powerful cop is the story of the film.

Analysis

In commercial cinema, directors often build up to a major action sequence and a confrontation between the protagonist and antagonist as the interval block, only to struggle in maintaining that intensity in the second half. This is where Vivek Athreya succeeds in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, managing to sustain the momentum throughout the film.

Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is an action drama with a unique theme where Nani shines in the lead role, backed by strong performances from the supporting cast. However, the film does have its drawbacks, including some dragged-out scenes and a somewhat routine commercial narrative at times.

Nani is in top form with this film and showcases what he is capable of as a mass star. He does well in all the action sequence and is amazing as Surya. He is very good in the action sequences as well. Priyanka Arul Mohan is the weakest link in the film and is just about okay as a cop. Murali Sharma, Sai Kumar, Harshvardhan and others do their jobs well. But the film belongs to SJ Suryah who has killed it with his solid performance. The way he carries the role of a psycho cop is just amazing and he is the biggest highlight of the film.

Vivek Athreya’s unique screenplay effectively establishes the characters and conflict, with his writing deserving special recognition. The film is filled with well-crafted and meaningful dialogues. The humor he brings out through the characters of Saikumar and Harshavardhan is particularly noteworthy.  Jakes Bejoy has composed the music, and he is the unsung hero of the film. The manner in which he elevates the film is superb to see.

The writing by Vivek Athreya is just amazing as the concept and the attention to detail is superb. Also, the manner in which the story is told is good. The runtime is three hours long and editing is not that great. The dialogues are okay and so was the production design. The fights are solid and the camerawork, especially the fights are very good.

Additionally, one of the strengths of Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is that almost every character has significance and purpose within the story. But having said all this, the film is painfully long and does not have any major twists. From start to end, its moves on a predictable note. It is only the performances and screenplay that hold your attention though things are quite routine.

Verdict

Overall, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is a decent action drama that has good performances. The masses will love the film, and the interesting point will be loved by the general audience. Just ignore the predictable nature and lengthy runtime, you will be fine.
