Ex-wife of Kamal Hasan, Sarika has done the unthinkable. If unconfirmed reports are to be believed then Sarika has bagged the National Award for Best Actress for her sensitive portrayal of a Parsi mother searching for her son missing since the Gujarat riots of 2002 in ‘Parzania’. In that case she would have outwitted the strongest contender Rani Mukherjee in ‘Black’. The film also seems to have won the Best Director Award for US based filmmaker Rahul Dholakia. It seems Sanjay Leela Bhansali will have to contend with The Best Hindi Feature Film. And if that happens, then the contentious part will be when the Oscar Jury rejected ‘Black’ as India’s entry to Oscars as more than fifty percent film is in English, then how can the same film be awarded a popular award and that too for Hindi.

Although Naseeruddin Shah’s directorial debut ‘Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota’ may have proved to be a dud at the Box Office, but his acting days continue to inspire many stories. After a sharp portrayal of an underworld don in Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Omkara’, Naseer may have just won the Best Supporting Actor trophy for ‘Iqbal’. A Special Jury Award has also been given to Anupam Kher for playing the old man ravaged by the loss of ideals in ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara’. Amitabh Bachchan seems to have won a rare National Award for Best Actor with ‘Black’.

Here’s a probable list that has been confirmed by high placed sources:

Best Actor: Amitabh Bachchan (Black)
Best Actress: Sarika (Parzania)
Best Supporting Actor: Naseeruddin Shah (Iqbal)
Special Jury Award: Anupam Kher (Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara)
Best Director: Rahul Dholakia (Parzania)
Best Hindi Feature Film: ‘Black’
Best English Language Film: ‘15 Park Avenue’
Best Film: ‘Kalpurush’
