Today is the birthday of actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Born as the grandson of former Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi and the song of DMK leader M.K.Stalin, Udhayanidhi has carved a niche for himself in cinema instead of politics.

After entering Kollywood as the producer of Ilayathalapathy Vijay-Trisha starrer 'Kuruvi', Udhay emerged as a strong producer and distributor in Kollywood. he also produced Kamal Haasan's 'Manmathan Ambu'. His knack to identify quality films that can become commercial hits as a distributor was evident in the success of films like 'Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya', 'Ko', 'Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer' and 'Tamilukku En Ondrai Azhuthavum'.

In 2012 Udhayanidhi emerged as a hero with 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi' the super hit comedy entertainer directed by Rajesh. He has gradually emerged as a bankable commercial hero. This year he attempted an action film 'Gethu' and an emotional Court Drama 'Manithan' and proved that he is an actor who can fit himself in any kind of roles.

His upcoming films include 'Saravanan Irukka Bayamen' directed by Ezhil, a film directed by Gaurav Narayanan and 'Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam' directed by Thalapathy Prabhu. The the latter two films are being produced by big banners such as Lyca Productions and Sri Thenandal Films respectively. This yet again proves he has raised his stakes as a commercial film hero and he is only going to get bigger as a star in the coming years.
