Saravana
Director K S Ravikumar is a trusted name among producers, for his movies never end up on the wrong side.
Known for his commitment and finishing schedules ahead of time, he sounds confident directing a remake of the Telugu hit Bhadra.
The Tamil remake is titled Saravana and it stars Silambarasan and Jyothika in lead roles. The two come together after Manmadhan.
Ravikumar says it will be a Pongal treat for the viewers.
On why he chose to direct are make, Ravikumar says, 'the moment I saw Bhadra , I sensed a winner at hand. Only it has been fine-tuned to meet the audience of a different kind. It is the story line which is important and once you get the right script half the battle is won.'
Of the difficulty in doing a remake, Ravikumar said there ought to be some changes.
What gels in one language need not be accepted in the other. The advantage is in selecting the cast. Once the whole film is in your mind it is only a question of application.
There is always room for improvisation when you are handling a remake.'
'After doing heavier subjects like Manmadhan and Totti Jaya, it was refreshing to be part of a lighter theme though with its brand of commercial aspects', says Silambarasan.
Meanwhile, his directorial venture Vallavan too is nearing completion and would be completed soon.
Bhadra is a film that has shades of Gilli. It has similar over-the-top excitement with the hero and heroine almost on a high-octane run. The Telugu original starred Ravi Teja and Meera Jasmine.
Jyothika is very confident of another good show like she did in Manmadhan.
