Sarabham Music Review

For ages audiences were thronging to theatres for its lead stars. Later some directors achieved that feat. But very few producers/production houses have achieved that in the past. C.V. Kumar got the knack of picking individual talents and brilliant stories in the last few years. Naveen, who made his Kollywood debut with, Bramman, gets to play as a lead in this movie. Britto Michael, makes his debut as music director. And, he does offer some variety and interesting fusions.

1. Bodhayil Padhai Marum   Listen here

Singer(s): Anthony Dasan, Britto Michael

For strange reasons, Anthony Dasan does sound like a substitute to, Gana Bala to start off. What starts off a predictable fare turns wild within a minute. The tune offers moments of hallucinating rock portion. The idea to fusion carnatic instruments with heady drum in the first interlude deserves multiple hearing. Music director, Britto justifies his vocals by keeping up the energy levels. The creative arrangements and a brilliant piece of fusion make this song a special one.

2. Neram   Listen here

Singer: Usha Uthup

A BGM material track gets its vocal from, Usha Uthup. The drums keep rolling throughout the song to maintain the tempo. Usha does go out of sync for few seconds and pulls herself back to compliment the tune. The song might work visually, but it falls flat on the ears.

3. Pudhidhai oru Iravu   Listen here

Singer(s): Andrea, Britto Michael

There are very few singers who make any given tune to sounds exotic. Andrea holds the top position in that list. The new age composers don't shy away from rendering their voice for couple of numbers in their album. `Vidiyum varai vizhithu iruppom.. vidindhadhum avaravar vazhi sella'.. verses like this clearly captures the mood of youngsters who goes for night outs frequently. A classy acoustic guitar leads the romantic mood and a collage of instruments carries the tempo for rest of the song.

4. Sarabham Theme   Listen here

Singer(s): Rabbit Mac, Physco unit

The album ends with a psychedelic theme. Physco unit tries to create an anthem like feel by delivering the title in high pitch notes. Electric guitars with steady drum beats succeed in creating a sherlock'ish atmosphere.

Verdict - Composing for a thriller is never an easy task. Britto has started off really well and one could expect him to get better in his next outings. If at all there is one music label which scouts for good talents then it got to be, Think Music.
