Much like her 'Badhaai Ho' co-star, Ayushmann Khurrana, actress Sanya Malhotra also has an affinity for choosing scripts which are off beat and often address social issues. The actress is going to star in show titled 'Sasural Wonder Phool' for Audible and it's going to target the stigma around sex in our society. Actor Varun Sharma will also play an important part alongside her. The show will feature Sanya's character Ashima who gets married to a sex therapist (Varun Sharma).
Talking about how sex is viewed in Indian society, Sanya said, "Definitely a taboo. But with films, with cinema, with other platforms I think things are changing, and according to me, I think, I believe that there is a demand for such stories that’s the reason the creators are willing to create shows like ‘Sasural Wonder Phool’.”
Sanya also believes that cinema can bring a change in people's mindset around this issue. She said, “I’m hoping with this show and we are able to change a few things maybe inspire people to be more comfortable when they’re talking about s*x or s*x-related issues. I honestly feel that my character in ‘Sasural Wonder Phool’, which is Ashima, reflects our society wonderfully, you know she’s a prude, she’s not so comfortable talking about s*x."
