Acclaimed musician, Santhosh Narayanan, delivered 'Enjoy Enjaami', the banger indie album featuring his daughter Dhee and rapper Therukural Arivu. The song is marching towards 500 million views now. As the third release anniversary of Enjoy Enjaami comes in a few days, the composer made a sensational disclosure.
Santhosh Narayanan posted a 90-second-long video clip today in which he revealed that the net income for himself, Dhee and Arivu from this song is "whopping zero cents". This has caused a stir on social media. 'Enjoy Enjaami' was produced by Santhosh Narayanan and Maajja, an independent platform launched by Isai Puyal AR Rahman.
Here's what Santhosh had to say about this issue: "We were approached with owning 100 per cent of the rights, revenues and royalties from this song. We were so happy. The song connected well and had over a billion streams cumulatively across platforms. I want to spill the beans on how much we received in net income and revenue to date, three artists put together. It is a whopping zero cents from this song.
Unfortunately, we have tried our best to reach out to the label and artists, there are some world-renowned artists involved in this. I've set up my own studio now because of this experience. I want indie artists to have a smooth and transparent platform to publish their work and earn revenue. I'm posting this and I am here for you, indie artists. I will make sure your dues are cleared."
