Santhanu Bhagyaraj on Wednesday called on Chennai city Police Commissioner J K Tripathy and requested him to take stringent action against those selling pirated DVDs of his recent film ‘Kanden’.

Talking to journalists after submitting a complaint with the top Police officer, Santhanu said, “I got information from reliable sources that ‘Kanden’ DVDs are sold in shops and the film was uploaded on to a few websites.”

“It’s unfair for some persons to make money out of our hard work. A film is made with crores of rupees and those behind it are unable to reap the benefits, due to piracy. An end should be put to this,” said the actor.

Urging the people not to encourage sellers of pirated VCDs and DVDs, Santhanu added: “Tamil Nadu is known for supporting talents. People should stop encouraging piracy.” Director of the film Mugil was also present.
