Santhanam one of the most celebrated comedians in the past decade and a half at the peak of his career decided to turn hero. His initial attempts such as 'Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya', ' Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham' and 'Inimey Ippadithaan' were well received. He followed them up with super hits 'Dhilluku Dhuddu', 'Dhilluku Dhuddu 2', 'Parris Jeyaraj' and 'Dikkiloona'. However his recent films have got less than luke warm reception at the box office.
Almost a year ago it was announced that Santhanam will be teaming up with Ajith Kumar for the much hyped 'AK 62' directed by Vignesh Shivan for Lyca Productions. However the project got shelved due to creative differences between the producer and the director. The same project will go on floors on August 21st as 'Vidaamuyarchi' directed by Magizh Thirumeni with a different story and cast.
Santhanam in his recent interview shared that he liked the script narrated by Vignesh Shivan and agreed to do the film immediately. His character had both comedy and seriousness and travelled with the Ajith's character throughout.
Santa added that he is now open to doing multistarrer films and Karthi has already spoken to him about making a film based on their characters of "Rocket Raja" and "Kaatupoochi" respectively in the blockbuster hit 'Siruthai' (2011). He also let out that director M. Rajesh is already scripting 'Boss Engira Baskaran 2' that will reunite him and Arya in their iconic roles.
Santhanam's current projects include 'Kick', 'Vadakkupatty Ramasamy' directed by Karthik Yogi and 'DD Returns' the third part of 'Dhillukku Dhuddu'. From his recent interaction it has become clear that we will see more of him collaborating with other heroes in the future which sounds like a good career decision.
