Santhanam, who was the leading comedy actor in Kollywood in the early 2000s switched to leading roles and has had mixed fortunes for the past decade or so. He is currently acting in three films namely 'Kick', 'Vadakupatti Ramasamy' and 'DD Returns'.
Santhanam is known for giving opportunities to his friends from the 'Lollu Sabha' days. In most of his films Swaminathan, Easter, Seshu, Maaran, Manohar and others more often than not get meaty roles in his films. On a similar vein Santa has now agreed to act in a new movie to be directed by a close friend and comedy actor Sukumar.
Sukumar played the role of Bharat's friend in the cult classic 'Kadhal' produced by Shankar and directed by Balaji Sakthivel. He came to be known as 'Kadhal Sukumar'. and has acted in many films including Kamal Haasan's 'Virumandi' and 'Vasoolraja MBBS'. He has also directed films like 'Thiruttu VCD' and 'Summave Aadumyo'.
The latest news is that Santhanam has decided to act in a film directed by his long time friend Kadhal Sukumar and the official announcement will be made soon. While both the earlier films directed by Sukumar did not fare well at the box office his combo with Santhanam could well provide a turning point for him.
