Producer Ashok Vallabhaneni has acuired the Telugu theatrical rights for Rajinikanth's 'Petta'. In recent times, he distributed 'Nawab' and 'Sarkar' in Telugu, the latter of which was a hit.
The news is that 'Petta' will hit the screens during Sankranthi festive season. It has to be seen how its release will be planned, given that Ram Charan's 'Vinaya Vidheya Rama', Balakrishna's 'NTR' and Venkatesh-Varun Tej's 'Fun & Frustration' are also going to be there.
"Director Karthik Subbaraj has shown Superstar Rajini in a roaring way. The film will definitely impress both the class and mass audience. Anirudh Ravichander's tunes are extraordinary," producer Ashok says.
Starring Vijay Sethupathi as antagonist Jithu, the film has Trisha Krishnan and Simran as the heroines. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasi Kumar, Bobby Simha and others are part of the cast. 'Petta' has cinematography by S Thirunavukkarasu. Editing is by Vivek Harshan. Production Designing is by Suresh Selvarajan. Action Direction is by Peter Hein.
