'Sankarabharanam', the 1980 classic, is one of the greatest Telugu-language movies of all time. The musical drama, written and directed by 'Kalatapasvi' K Viswanath, is in the news for getting recognition at the ongoing edition of the International Film Festival of India.

Producer Edida Nageswara Rao's son Edida Raja said that the film has been selected for the Restored Indian Classics section. Starring JV Somayajulu, Manju Bhargavi and Chandra Mohan, the classic will now be a part of the National Film Archives of India.

National recognitions are new to it. It secured four National Film Awards including the Best Film with Mass Appeal, Wholesome Entertainment & Aesthetic Values, when it was released. It also won seven Nandi Awards.

With music by KV Mahadevan and cinematography by Balu Mahendra, the film is edited by GG Krishna Rao.
