Even though Rajasthan Royals failed to make it to the playoffs in the 14th edition of Indian Premier League, skipper Sanju Samson had a good season, after scoring a total of 484 runs in 14 matches at an average of 40.33 and strike rate of 136.72. He also secured a century and two half centuries.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson’s recent social media activity indicates that the young cricketer might play for MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season of IPL. Reports have claimed that Samson had chosen to unfollow Rajasthan Royals on his social media handle a few days ago while he followed the Chennai Super Kings’ official account. This gave rise to speculations that Samson might be bought by CSK in the mega auction in case he isn’t retained by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the bidding.
In addition to this, commentator and former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra had mentioned in January this year that CSK and RCB were hoping to purchase Samson at the mini auction before the list of retained/released players was announced. “I have come to know that there were 2 teams who were trying to poach Sanju Samson, trying to lure him. One was Royal Challengers Bangalore and the other was Chennai Super Kings. After being approached by these two franchises, even the Royals would have thought to not only retain Samson but also increase his stature in the team,” he had said.
