More than a decade later, the return of actor Fardeen Khan to the screen will be through the Netflix project titled "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar" by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. During a recent interview, the actor shared his experiences working with the filmmaker.
Khan shared that in the 2000s, he had asked Bhansali for some work, but the latter found him not passionate enough for the movies. He goes on to say he was to be proved wrong by learning in a recent interview that Bhansali had him in mind for a role in "Black" (2005), but nothing came of it.
Recalling a past meeting with Bhansali, he said he felt he had told him off because he didn't have the requisite fire. Though it was difficult to hear at that point, he did appreciate Bhansali's honesty and felt grateful for the opportunity to work with him.
A period film, "Heeramandi," will focus on the lives of courtesans in pre-independent India and feature Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal in key roles. Khan will star opposite Taha Shah, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan S in the role of Man.
