The battle of Saragarhi fought in 1897 in areas bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan now known as the North West Frontier Province is to come alive on the big screen as '21 Battle of Saragarhi-From Ashes To Glory'.

The war was fought between the soldiers of Sikh regiment controlled by the British against the Afghan tribesmen.

This highly expensive ambitious project of producer Bunty Walia is supported by actor Sanjay Dutt as the co-producer.

Sanjay is also playing the lead role as the leader of the Sikh regiment, Havaldar Ishar Singh in the film which will have 20 other actors playing the roles of the 20 brave Sikhs who formed the back bone of the regiment and fought till their death.

The actors who will be playing these roles are yet to be finalized.

The shooting will be done in Morocco as the geography there resembles to a great extent with the terrain where the war took place

It was pure surprise for Bunty Walia when film maker Rohit Jugraj approached him with the proposal of making a film based on the battle as Bunty also was at that time thinking about the same subject for a movie.

Bunty who is a Punjabi always felt that the bravery of the 21 Sikh soldiers have not got the attention it deserves and should be expressed to the world through the visual medium.

When Sanjay Dutt was approached for the film, he was so impressed and exited that he offered to be the co-producer.

The movie will be having some of the best technicians to make it one of the best action oriented movies ever made in India.

So discussions are going on to rope in the renowned FX expert Chris Watts and the acclaimed Australian cinematographer Christopher Doyle.

Chris Watts is the man who was behind the stunning special effects for the cult Hollywood action movie '300'.
