Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, was one of the standout hits of the preceding year. It had come in for severe flak for purported misogyny and glorifying toxic masculinity, although a section of the audience had loved it just for its sheer entertainment. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently told Dainik Bhaskar in an interview that he is getting so many responses regarding animals, but the one from Ranveer Singh he remembers well.
Speaking about the meeting, Vanga shared, "It's been 40 days since the film was released, and the reaction of Ranveer Singh was pretty overwhelming. He spoke to me over a phone call for almost 40 minutes, and I must have read his long message 3–4 times already. I don't know how excited I was to get that message. He shared certain things about animals that made me realize, 'Oh, this element is also noticed in the film.'"
Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor respectively essay the roles of the father and son in Animal, a toxic relationship story. Rashmika Mandanna is the wife of Ranbir Kapoor, and Triptii Dimri plays a character related to unfaithfulness. The antagonist in the film is played by Bobby Deol. The film hit theaters on December 1 and later became available on Netflix on January 26.
