With Exit Polls ruling out a victory for the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, the opposition party has started making allegations of EVM fraud and theft ahead of the March 10th counting. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, who wants to unseat the BJP from power, has said that all candidates of SP and alliance parties should be on guard to prevent rigging from taking place before and during the counting.
"The news of EVMs being caught in Varanasi is a wake-up call to every assembly of UP to be on alert. All the candidates and supporters of SP and its allies should be ready with their cameras to thwart the attempt of rigging in the counting of votes. To protect youth democracy and future, become soldiers in the counting of votes," Akhilesh tweeted.
Addressing a presser on Tuesday evening, Akhilesh said that even Exit polls have tried to create a perception that BJP is winning. "This is the last fight for democracy. EVM is being transported without being informed to candidates," he said, as quoted by ANI.
Common people are saying that losing parties have been repeating the EVM tampering/fraud allegations every time they lose. "This has been done in the past as well. The allegations are totally discredited. The Election Commission should be trusted unless there is clear, unbiased, unadulterated evidence that EVMs have been compromised," a Facebook user opined.
