One of the films that made critics, audiences and the trade super happy in 2018 is '96' directed by Premkumar and starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. The film which enjoyed a 100 Days run in theaters even after its television premiere is being remade in Telugu by the same director with Sharwanand and Samantha replacing VJS and Trish.

Director Premkumar is said to have effected a major change in '96' Telugu remake by completely removing the school portions that had Aditya Bhaskar and Gauri Kishan playing younger versions of the lead pair. It is reported that instead the couple will be shown studying in college and Sam and Sharwanand will themselves play the younger versions too. It is said that Sam is delighted by the change as she gets to play two different shades which would be challenging as well.
