It is already known that Samantha starrer mythological drama, 'Shaakuntalam', is preparing for a grand theatrical release. Made in 3D as a Pan-Indian film, this movie is an adaptation of acclaimed playwright Kalidasa's play of the same name, which is a story in Mahabharata.
Samantha plays the titular role in Shaakuntalam, produced by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks and distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations. Dev Mohan plays King Dushyanta while Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha is debuting as a child artist. The much-awaited film was initially planned to be released in November 2022 which was delayed to February 17, 2023, due to 3D works.
Now, the makers have officially announced that Shaakuntalam's theatrical release is postponed once again. The new release date will be announced soon. Taking to Twitter, the production house in their note wrote, "WE REGRET TO INFORM OUR BELOVED AUDIENCE THAT WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RELEASE SHAAKUNTALAM THIS 17TH OF FEBRUARY, WE WOULD BE ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE DATE SOON. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND LOVE." (sic)
Shaakuntalam's story revolves around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant from Mahabharata. Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr.M Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, Jisshu Sengupta and others play vital roles in Shaakuntalam. The technical team includes Mani Sharma as the music composer, Shekar V Joseph as the DOP and Prawin Pudi as the editor.
