Samantha made her debut in the Tamil film 'Mosvowin Cauvery' but went on to achieve stardom in Telugu cinema and is now one of the few heroines who has box office pull on her own in South Indian cinema. The evergreen beauty tied the knot with her long-time beau actor Naga Chaitanya in 2017 but has continued to act and has given super hits 'Mersal', 'Rangasthalam', 'Irumbu Thirai', 'Super Deluxe' and 'Oh Baby'. She is currently shooting for the Telugu remake of '96' costarring Sharwanand and directed by original helmer Premkumar.

A buzz has started doing the rounds in Telugu media that Sam has decided to take a break from acting for the next one and a half years and has conveyed the same to producers who approached her. Speculations have started that this break is due to Sam and Chai planning to start a family.
